Note on the effect of record balancing upon strong motion earthquake response spectra

JOHN H. WIGGINS, JR.

JERSEY PRODUCTION RESEARCH COMPANY, TULSA, OKLAHOMA

Abstract

From an investigation of over 100 doubly integrated strong motion accelerograms, observations are made concerning the effect of apparent errors within the records upon computed response spectra. The two most influential sources of error are false impulses and unreal long period oscillations.
