Travel-time equations and energy propagation for an elastic, heterogeneous, isotropic medium

Abstract

From the eikonal equation, we derive the parametrization of the seismic rays in an elastic, heterogeneous isotropic medium and deduce from it the equations for travel time and the energy per unit area of the wave front.
