Abstract
The Burdur earthquake of May 12, 1971, although only of moderate-sized magnitude, was responsible for much loss of life and property damage. The presence of full-height and/or partial-height infill walls in some reinforced concrete-framed structures completely altered the behavior of the frame elements. Damage to a four-story, reinforced concrete school building is described, as a typical example of this kind of failure.
