Abstract
New absorbing boundary conditions for numerical modeling of elastic-wave propagation and scattering are constructed in terms of six prescribed wave incidences. By further constraining these prescribed incidences, we derive three types of absorbing boundary conditions all in the form of a simple second-order differential equation. These conditions have different effectiveness in absorbing compressional and shear incident waves.
